Why a Referral Commission Programme
We had two options here. The first was to spend a lot money on advertising in the media to encourage people to visit the site. This could prove to be very expensive, and might not reach enough people to justify the cost.
The second option would be to ask people who have used the product to consider recommending it to their friends, family and colleagues. We would not want anyone who does not believe that the service is worth the investment, to make that recommendation. It is for that reason that we restrict the referral right to those people who have already purchased a search and presumably used the site.
Not only does it seem fair to offer a referral commission to people who do recommend the website, but it also makes sound business sense to us. This way we know that that our 'advertising' costs will amount to a fixed percentage of whatever sales we make.
